It seems every year Twitter redesigns its homepage. This change, however, seems to make more sense than the previous ones, which may make Twitter more mainstream.
Past redesigns have shown Tweets and trends in an effort to explain to newcomers by example. This redesign, however, is simple: offering only a brief explanation of what Twitter is and how it can be more relevant. The new site merely tells people they can follow their interests and provides them with a field to enter in those interests.
This will be a good move for Twitter and also for marketers. Even though Twitter use is growing, it still lacks a sense of being mainstream. By appealing to people’s interests this move can help Twitter overcome the hurdle to mainstream acceptance.
