Twitter Ad Revenue Expected to reach $150 million
Mon Jan, 2011 by Derek Mehraban
eMarketer predicts Twitter will triple last year’s revenue to reach $150 million in 2011. The report then predicts $250 million for Twitter in 2012. The expectation is made by comparing Twitter’s efforts to FaceBook’s and then drawing a similar expectation. The method may be flawed, but it does accurately measure one thing: Twitter is on the rise for advertising influence.
Unlike FaceBook, which resolves different ads based upon a user’s browsing history, there might be an early adoption benefit to advertising on Twitter. Laying claim to the feeds and also the selective attention of users might be more of a priority for Twitter advertisements than other forms.
Digital marketers should take note and evaluate twitter in a different role than other social advertising locations.
