Social Media Event Team Covers Inforum Michigan Facebook Event
Tue Oct, 2012 by Erin K. O'Neill
Michigan social media enthusiasts came together on Oct. 18 to hear from Facebook’s VP of Global Marketing Solutions, Carolyn Everson, and the Ingenex social media event team was there to cover it all. The conversation was moderated by Scott Monty, Global Digital and Multimedia Communications Manager at Ford Motor Company. Everything from women, work/life integration, and of course Facebook were discussed.
Throughout the event the Ingenex team tweeted and retweeted highlights of the discussions from the Inforum Twitter account. The entire conversation between Carolyn Everson and Scott Monty was also live-tweeted from the Ingenex Digital Twitter account, @ingenex, while Inforum Michigan, @InforumMI, curated tweets and facilitated conversation so everyone in attendance, and those following the event on social media, could keep up with the most important points.
The event kicked off at with a VIP reception and a short “meet and greet” opportunity with Everson and Monty, but the fun really got started after lunch was served and the speakers took the stage. Inforum CEO Terry Barclay welcomed everyone to the event, and then Ingenex’s CEO Derek Mehraban discussed the importance of Inforum Michigan.
“It was wonderful to be a part of such an exciting event with Carolyn from Facebook, and Scott Monty from Ford,” said Ingenex CEO, Derek Mehraban. “The content covered was insightful into what the leading social network has planned for the future. And the event really drew a large crowd with over 500 people attending. Bravo Inforum Michigan!”
Finally, the headliners Everson and Monty took their seats on stage and jumped right into the main topic of this discussion, Facebook. The conversation began with the importance of business, especially small businesses, in building relationships with customers through Facebook. Everson went on to tell us about the importance of creating strong, relevant content and recommendations. When talking about the pressure of Facebook now being publicly traded, Everson said: “We’re the same company. We stay true to our mission.” After Monty’s own questions for Everson, the audience had a chance to submit question for answering.
The event was a great opportunity to learn more about how Facebook can work for businesses straight from Facebook’s VP of Global Marketing Solutions. And it was a great example of how the Ingenex social media event team can cover an event to amplify the brand message, and engage with attendees and viewers on social media.
