New Demographic Data About Social Media Use
Wed Jul, 2011 by Derek Mehraban
The firm Community 102 has released new data about the demographics of social media users. The main surprise is in the presentation of the data. It’s an infographic that makes reading easier than a report. The other main surprise is about the age group of the most active social media users. 25% of the users are between 35 and 44. The expected main group, 18 to 24, makes up only 9% of active social media users. The other unexpected result is the average of Twitter users is 39.

It seems there is no shortage of new data about social media usage, but the digital agency needs to stay on top of this data. Social media campaigns need to be finely tuned and understanding this latest about Twitter provides a good example. A twitter campaign geared to younger people may not be as effective as tailoring that campaign for FaceBook consumption instead. It is a handy presentation that can help maximize ROI for the digital agency’s campaigns.
