AllFaceBook has conducted a poll to determine if Facebook Places will outcompete Foursquare. While there are many problems with the survey some value can be gleaned from the 41% that expect Foursquare to stand up against the behemoth newcomer.
What is sad for Foursquare, however, is the reasons it is expected to win. FB Places has yet to implement badges or anything fun to encourage checking into locations. All of these deficiencies are not intrinsic though. FB can easily complement their current offerings to outcompete Foursquare.
Tapping into FB’s vast data base of user preferences will also allow it to mobilize new tricks in the geo-location services that Foursquare will be unable to offer.
