Online advertising is now a $16 billion per year industry, but Google’s Schmitt thinks that number can reach as high as $200 billion. That growth will be led and caused by display ads, which are able to update in real time even if a user has remained on a single web page for quite some time.
Flite is a new company that is seeking to compete with Google in this burgeoning field. Originally created by LinkedIn, Flite has now fine-tuned their system is ready to begin accepting orders.

Marketers can benefit by having another competent display advertising publisher besides Google. The competition can help keep costs down, especially as Flite finds big publishers to host its ads. The competition is also going to keep Google honest by forcing more innovations and better infrastructure support for the advertisers purchasing real estate.
