Facebook Better than Twitter to Direct Web Traffic
Mon May, 2011 by Derek Mehraban
While a search engine presence is still the best method to direct traffic there is new data that Facebook is better than Twitter to direct traffic. Data compiled by Neilsen and then analyzed by the Pew Research Centre’s Project for Excellence in Journalism shows Facebook is the second or third most important driver of traffic. Twitter barely registers in the list of top drivers.
Further research will divide the types of pages into groups and then see if these findings hold true. Marketers need to keep in mind these data and further refinements when honing their campaigns for clients. This data also helps shore up the continuing importance in search engine presence. Social media alone is not enough to make a successful campaign.
