FaceBook Begins Large Organizational Pages
Thu Jul, 2011 by Derek Mehraban
FaceBook is now allowing pages to be categorized as part of a child/parent relationship. A complex organization can now have numerous pages underneath of it. An example is that Subway can create a deal with FaceBook Places that works at all locations instead of requiring individual management from each Subway store. This change will help FaceBook Places position itself as a serious competitor with Foursquare and Twitter. This change will also incorporate data from these organizations within the social graph and allowing people to search locally.

The digital agency with large complex clients social media marketing will see an immediate benefit from this change. The small client can also benefit because doing many FaceBook pages with a child/parent relationship can make the small client seem larger and hence more popular with others. This change should also give FaceBook Places a huge boost. That boost will carry along all firms with a presence even if they do not make any changes to reflect this new allowance.
