Many people are on Linkedin. Business people often use Linkedin but still hold back from Facebook. How long can this hold out? I feel they go hand in hand. Why?
1. Linkedin is great for business. But life (and business) is about relationships. And that includes families, friends, hobbies, interests, and shared experience. Linkedin only goes so far in that area. Facebook allows greater depth of the personal experience. Greater connection w/ your friends.
2. Facebook is the ultimate social networking tool. The ability to add photos, video, links, and more makes Facebook the best way to share information and build community on a social networking site. Your profile is the beginning of the process.
3. Linkedin Groups + Facebook Pages = Success. Linkedin has groups, which allow you to build large communities and organize people using the business social network. Pair that with a Facebook page, and you have Fans and community on Facebook with an easy to use, intuitive, content management system (Facebook) all around your organization, product or cause.
4. Company Profiles on Linkedin. Everyone from your company can be shown as part of the company profile on Linkedin. Great for optimization and to get the word out about your business. You also need a company Page on Facebook. How could you pass up such an opportunity?
5. Vanity URL’s on Facebook are coming, Saturday, June 13. This will allow everyone to enjoy the benefit of the url www.facebook.com/yourname as a URL. Brilliant and beneficial. This is the new URL, online real-estate grab. It’s big! You just watch.
Here are posts from the MSU New Media Drivers License Course. Our first assignment was on Linkedin an Facebook. Here are top results from our first week of class.
