Deep Twitter integration Coming to iOS

Apple announced today that its new iOS will offer a deep integration with Twitter. Users will be able to grant apps access to a Twitter account, so a login is not necessary with every use of the service. The camera will be able to send pictures automatically to Twitter as well as an integration with mail and contacts and other apps.

This move will make more content available on Twitter streams. The user of iOS5 may not, however, find their Twitter streams to be much more important in their lives. The digital agency should see this as widening the use of Twitter as more and more functions fall in line with it. A Twitter search, if the search functions are improved as planned, will become more valuable. Until that improvement is made, however, this change will probably not change the ROI on using Twitter as an advertising platform. As a social media device this change will help keep Twitter growing but probably again not change, at least not by much, the rate of Twitter’s integration into people’s lives.
