Looking for the Best Super Bowl Commercials? We have them here. In fact, since Super Bowl XXXII in 1998, Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences Advertising and PR Professors have made it a tradition to get together and rate the best Super Bowl commercials.
Every year MSU professors gather at Professor Robert Kolt’s house to watch the Super Bowl ads (and maybe a little of the game). This year professors used the same polling ‘clickers’ used in classes at Michigan State to rate each ad in real time. The team of 20 professors rated each Super Bowl ad using a five-point grading scale that reflected each ad’s creativity, production and overall quality.
Derek Mehraban, co-creator of the Michigan State University Advertising Department’s social media marketing program called the New Media Driver’s License, had this to say about the 16 year MSU Advertising tradition, “The Michigan State Advertising department, headed by Jef Richards is the leading Ad School in the country. It’s a natural fit for a school that produces some of the top advertising executives in the country to rate the best Super Bowl Commercials.”
To engage their audience and alumni socially, professors updated their micro-blog on MSU’s knowledge network. The micro-blog documents behind-the-scenes fun and events’ coverage. In an effort to bolster Super Bowl commercial conversation and review, the College of Communication Arts and Sciences Professors encouraged their students to use social media to participate and give their feedback on the best ads of Super Bowl XLVII. MSU developed the #MSUperBowl hashtag for twitter followers to discuss their take on the best Super Bowl commercials of 2013 with @MSUCommarts professors during the football game.
Without further delay, the results are in! The top ten Super Bowl 2013 commercials according to Michigan State’s Advertising and PR Professors are:
10. Speedstick’s “Unattended Laundry”
9. Dodge Ram’s “Farmer”
8. Budweiser’s “Brotherhood”
7. Volkswagen’s “Get In. Get Happy.”
6. Audi’s “Prom”

4. Coca-Cola’s “Coke Chase”
